J. Edgar Hoover tactics returns to Occupy Movement?

I read the headlines in USATODAY.com News: Occupy movement faces challenges from violent fringe, and I immediately had a flashback to the protest movements in the 60’s. More specifically, I immediately had a flashback to the underhanded, sleazy tricks the republicans, like President Richard Nixon, FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, and their covert operatives orchestrated to make peaceful demonstrators appear violent and destructive.
Their most popular strategy was to infiltrate the movements with highly skilled operatives, who were present or former members of the CIA, FBI, and the military Special Forces. The job of these operatives were (1) gather information that would allow the republicans to harass, miscast, and destroy the leaders of the movement; (2)create violent fringes that prevent the movements from gaining greater public support. Keep the movements from appearing peaceful and purposeful; (3) act in concert with local law enforcement to stage riots that require police action for restoring peace; and (4) destroy the movement by destroying its leaders, eroding its support from the public, and marginalizing its purpose and its ideas.
Currently, I do not have any evidence that suggest the republicans are orchestrating the violence in the Occupy Movements, but their gross inhumane treatment of the middle class, their history of lying about weapons of mass destruction, their violations of individual rights, and most importantly, their track record, leads me to believe that an investigations by the United States Attorney General Office might be warranted. Free speech for all Americans is worth preserving, even when we disagree with the ideas in the speeches. No American should be intimidated, harassed, or mistreated for simply speaking his mind ― especially in the United States of America: a country that is always sending its young men and women to die in foreign lands, so that the people of other countries would have democratic rights, including free speech!
