Once upon a time there was a bush... (Ode to a Salesman)

May I tap your phone? It will improve your conversation. May I restrict your medication? It will make you well. May I prevent gay marriages? It will protect the sanctity of the illusion. May I teach your children to pray in school? It will keep them from going to …well! May I send your children to war? Mine are busy in college, you know. (Forget that yours might return in body bags, While mine might turn into CEOs.) May I charge you more money for fuel? Internet services should be higher in fees. May I drill for oil in the Alaskan wilderness? Who in the world needs all of them trees! Just in case you are wondering Why I am asking to do all of these -- wondering if you should have any fear? I will shout, "Of course not! Absolutely not! I am a moral salesman, and this is my way of saying -- I care!"

Notes from the letter of a gay sailor who committed suicide

The difficulty of living by someone else’s definition is the fact that you must learn to swim -- upstream, through scorching waves like the sand where Sahara and Mojave cremates the Hell created by Heaven, knowing that for some of God’s creatures, spawning is an act of suicide, journeying from womb to grave during fish hunting season as the purpose --the hook tears your face from your mouth making your blood the Nile. “Fishing is fun!” wasn’t the salmon’s cry, as he leaped from his home in his attempt to reach Heaven to get an explanation from God (his glazed eyes bulging from gross injustice) just before he died for simply being himself while living by someone else’s definition.
