Honesty and Fairness in the USA, Part 2
Answer: In my judgment, the answer is simpler than most of the experts think. I believe that most Americans understand that in order to truly reduce our national debt and put our nation on a sound economic path, the president and congress need to evaluate entitlements and all areas of spending; taxes and all areas of revenues; waste, fraud, and abuse of the economic system; and effectively streamline government services. In other words, Americans know that the president and congress need to create open and honest forums in which everything in on the table, and all decisions concerning the national debt are honest and fair. Americans are discouraged and pessimistic because neither the president nor congress has offered a plan that demands this type of thorough, in-depth, authentic evaluation of our government’s financial system. And it seems unlikely that the president or congress will create a plan like this in the future. Instead, it appears that they will continue to lobby the citizens of the United States on behalf of their interests, while bickering back and forth with each other, as Americans that feel helpless, to intervene, watches from the sideline.
And second, how will Americans’ level of discouragement and pessimism affect the next election ― particularly the presidential race?
Answer: The extreme left is planning to vote democratic. The extreme right is planning to vote tea party/republican. And the rest of us ―moderates, centrist, and other folks in the middle of these two extremes ― feel that we are being asked to choose between the lesser of two evils. Neither democrats nor republicans make us hopeful.
Let’s pray for Devine intervention ― miracles do happen!
Personally, my strategy going forward is to get involved in the issues concerning our lives and our nation. I am writing and speaking about them. I am teaching and learning about them. And I am encouraging my fellow Americans to do the same.
We’re not the problem; we’re the solution!
