Inspiration
as a gentle shake in the dark
that awakes me from my sleep:
"Wake up! It's time to think! Suppose you ...," It begins. "And
what if you…," It continues. "It will work if you do the following …," It assures me.
"I believe you're correct," I reply. "Why didn't I think of that before," I continue. "I agree;
it will work if I did the following…," I assure myself
--now fully aware that I am
talking to myself ( or am I?)
For again it came
in broad daylight
above the canopy of the trees
through the rustling leaves
that whispered amongst each other
in a breeze that would have gone unnoticed
if it wasn't for the voice that came from it
like a ray from the sun:
"In case you're wondering …," It began. The
reason I did the following was…," It continued. "Believe
in me and I will believe in you," It assured me.
"Wow! I understand," I replied. "No one will believe me," I
continued. "But I will keep on questioning, praying, believing, and
searching," I assured myself
--now fully aware that I was
talking to myself
(or was I?)
I looked at the meadow
where the butterflies were doing aerobatics.
I looked further beyond
to the golden wheat fields
where the wheat danced in synchronized patterns
of golden lines of varying designs, which
appeared, disappeared, then reappeared in random sequences. Above
an eagle glided to the calm pulsating ballad of the water
in the stream hitting the rocks below, creating a sound that echoed up
to the mountain, which stood monumental in silent presence. But
soon from the mountains It came:
"I can be overwhelming …," It began. "But
what if you have faith in Me …!" It continued. "Seek an you will find, knock
and it will be opened to you, believe and your prayers will be answered …," It
assured me.
"Am I losing my mind?" I replied. "This type of behavior isn't
normal," I continued, "But then what is?" I assured myself
--now fully aware that I was
talking to myself
